Briand Morrison composes for others and himself and performs as a solo jazz guitarist along with other groups, taking his music on a path through festivals, clubs, art spaces and concert halls. Briand?s exploration of jazz music on guitar delivers an eloquent language in and of itself, with every performance bringing us new improvisations as he weaves together modes of perception in scales and rhythms to create a landscape of improvised music. Lights, Camera? Opera! Lyric Opera of the North celebrates the opening of the NorShor with a production of Don Giovanni set in the ?Golden Age? of 1930s Hollywood. In this Mozart-meets-the-movies production, our leading man uses his power to play with the lives of everyone on set. But every action has a consequence, and although he?s well-rehearsed?nothing could prepare him as the line between fantasy and reality blur at the movie studio.
